Pattern-based design applied to cultural heritage knowledge graphs

چکیده

Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) have become an established and recognised practice for guaranteeing good quality ontology engineering. There are several ODP repositories where ODPs shared as well design methodologies recommending their reuse. Performing rigorous testing is recommended supporting maintenance validating the resulting resource against its motivating requirements. Nevertheless, it less than straightforward to find guidelines on how apply such developing domain-specific knowledge graphs. ArCo graph of Italian Cultural Heritage has been developed by using eXtreme (XD), ODP- test-driven methodology. During development, XD adapted need CH domain e.g. gathering requirements from open, diverse community consumers, a new defined many specialised address specific This paper presents describes development validation graph, also detailing (intellectual) process implemented matching encountered modelling problems ODPs. Relevant contributions include novel web tool unit-testing graphs, evaluation ArCo, discussion methodological lessons learned during development.

Pattern-Based Retrieval of Cultural Heritage Images

Conventional Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) systems make use of similarity measures estimated directly from low-level image features, involving multidimensional and exhaustive, nearest neighbor searching. In this paper we present an image retrieval methodology suited for efficient search in cultural heritage images that utilizes similarity measures defined over higher-level patterns assoc...

Pulsed Thermography Applied to the Study of Cultural Heritage

In this paper, an overview of the recent applications of pulsed infrared thermography is presented. Pulsed infrared thermography, which provides stratigraphic information by analyzing the heat diffusion process within the sample after a thermal perturbation, is applied to the investigation of different kinds of cultural heritage artefacts. In particular, it is used to analyze repairs, decorativ...

A Critical Examination of Presence Applied to Cultural Heritage

This paper surveys current notions of social and cultural presence as they may help the evaluation of cultural heritage projects. We argue that cultural heritage requires specialized evaluation, as key issues both connect and separate the aims of presence researchers and cultural heritage experts. To support this argument, three case studies of virtual heritage evaluations are summarized, and r...

Automatic monitoring and 3D reconstruction applied to cultural heritage

In this article we present our global approach to the problem of accurate 3D measurement and reconstruction of 3D works of art using a calibrated multi-camera system. In particular, we illustrate a simple and effective adaptive technique for the self-calibration of CCD-based multi-camera acquisition systems with minimum a-priori information. We also propose a general and robust approach to the ...
